USB over Network is a user-friendly application that enables you to access USB devices over LAN or the Internet.

The program allows working with remote USB devices over a regular TCP/IP connection. It provides you with easy and reliable way to share or get remote access to USB devices. 

How it works

The program consists of two components that have to be installed on both local and remote computers.

As soon as you install USB over Network Server you will be able to share USB devices over any network. When you connect the remotely shared USB devices to the computer with USB over Network Client installed, they are recognized by its operating system as if they were attached directly to it.

You can share any USB device with any computer that has USB over Network Client. The shared USB device can be connected to one computer concurrently.

Real USB virtualization technology

USB over Network is a software-based solution designed to share USB devices over LAN or the Internet. FabulaTech virtualization technology fully emulates remote devices on the client side creating the exact copy of the shared hardware USB device.

Support of a wide range of USB devices

Don't worry, your USB device will do! USB devices are not limited to certain types.

USB device auto-sharing

Auto-sharing feature allows sharing all USB devices over TCP/IP automatically at the moment you plug it in.

The blacklist

The auto-sharing feature is very convenient in most cases but there are such situations when you don't want some particular USB device to be shared automatically. You can simply blacklist it and the device won't be shared.

USB port sharing

USB over Network now has the feature of USB port sharing. It means you can set the software to share a particular USB port and any USB device plugged into it will get shared automatically. This won't affect other USB devices plugged into other USB ports.

USB device auto-connection

When auto-connection is activated, it allows connecting to the client machine over TCP/IP automatically all the USB devices which have been shared on the server computer.

Postponed USB device sharing on Linux server

USB over Network Linux offers you a unique and convenient feature that allows you to share plugged in USB device and still have it accessible on your local computer. As soon as any remote Client PC connects to such a device, it becomes unaccessible for usage on the local machine.

Install:

- Download and extract using WinRAR.

- Use Nero or other burning app to burn the ISO image

- Burning speed should not be faster than 4x. Otherwise, it might not work.

- Restart your computer.

- Make sure you have selected your DVD-ROM/RW drive as a first boot device.

* Enter the BIOS pressing the DEL button, set the option, insert your Windows 7installation and restart computer.

- Select your current location (Home is recommended).

- The black CMD windows will appear. Wait a few seconds until computers restares once again.

- And that would be all about installation. You are in Windows now.

Activation:

It is not required, because it is OEM. Windows will be premanently activated.

However, it is well known that there is some problems with DELL and HP machines.

So if you have issues with pre-activation you will be forced to some activator to activate Windows 7.

Create Email Job alert for SQL replication successful / failed 

When you have automated backup jobs running on your database server, sometimes you forget that they are even running. Then you forget to check to see if they are running successfully, and don’t realize until your database crashes and you can’t restore it since you don’t have a current backup.
That’s where email notifications come in, so you can see the job status every morning when you are sipping your coffee and pretending you are working.
SQL Server provides a built-in method of sending emails, but unfortunately it requires you to have Outlook and a profile installed on the server, which isn’t necessarily the ideal way to send an email. Thankfully there is another method, that involves installing a stored procedure on your server that will allow you to send email via SMTP.
Download the sp_SQLNotify Stored Procedure here.
You will want to edit one line in the stored procedure to put the IP address of your SMTP server:

EXEC @hr = sp_OASetProperty @iMsg, ‘Configuration.fields(“http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserver”).Value’, ’10.1.1.10′

Install the stored procedure into the master database, so it can be easily used from wherever needed.
Open up the SQL Server Agent \ Jobs list, and select the properties for the job you are trying to create a notification for:

Click on the Steps tab, and you should see a screen that looks like this:

Click the New button to create a new job step. We will use this step to send the email notification on success.
Step Name: Email Notification Success
Enter this SQL into the Command window as seen below. You will want to customize the email addresses and message subject to match your environment:

Click OK and then click the New button again to create another step. This will be the failure notification step.
Step Name: Email Notification Failure

Now the idea is to make the items follow a specific workflow. First click Edit on step 1, and set the properties as shown here:

What we are saying is that on success, go to the success step, and on failure, go to the failure step. Pretty simple stuff.
Now edit the second step, the one labled “Email Notification Success”, and set the properties as seen here:

We are saying that if the notification job is successful, then just quit the job without running step 3. If we don’t specify this, then we will end up getting two emails, one with success and one with failure.
Now edit the third step, the one labled “Email notification failure”, and set the properties as seen here:
 
Now your job steps should look like this:

You should now have email notifications in your inbox for either success or failure.

Why use One-Click SQL Restore instead of RESTORE command?

Because One-Click SQL Restore is much faster. It unzips the bak file if necessary, it connects to the SQL server on the start, it selects the right database, it is smart enough to restart the server to drop open connections if necessary - all you have to do is to press "Restore" button.
One-Click SQL Restore is most useful if you restore often. If you are a developer that needs to restore databases a number of times - it will save you tons of time. However it won't replace the RESTORE command in a complicated restore scenario.

Typical Scenario

Let's say you want to restore a backup created using SQLBackupAndFTP or BACKUP DATABASE command

1. Double-click a *.bak file, or drag-and-drop *.bak or *.zip file onto One-Click SQL Restore
2. Select a Target database or type a new name
3. Press "Restore" button.

FAQ

Q: Can I restore not only full, but also differential backups?

A: No. Only Full. Use RESTORE for diff backup restore.

Q: I need other options: transaction log restore, file restore, snapshot, restart, etc?

A: Use RESTORE command instead. One-Click SQL Restore should be used in simple scenarios only.

Q: Do you overwrite the files when restoring to another database?

A: When restoring a backup from database X to database Y, we use "MOVE" option so Y files get overwritten.

Q: Restore errors

A: Most common errors are "The media family on device .. is incorrectly formed", "RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally", "The backup of the system database on device .. cannot be restored because it was created by a different version of the server" - they all occur when you try to restore to an older SQL server. You can NOT restore backups from a newer SQL version to an older - the formats of (Microsoft) backup files are different. See our post on this.

Q: Does it have Command Line Interface?

A: Yes. Usage:
SqlRestore <backup file (.bak or .zip)> [options]
Options:
-run - runs the program in automatic (console) mode
-db <target database> - a target database where the backup file will be restored to
-srv <QL Server name> - SQL Server instance name
-usr <SQL Server user name> - SQL Server user name (if not specified, then Windows Authentication will be used)
-pwd <user password> - SQL Server user password (if not specified, then emptypassword will be used)
-help or -? shows this help
